One of the many things I love about Fall is the opportunity for Senior Portraits!  This past Fall was fun and exciting and provided several opportunities for unique photo shoots.  I thought I would post a couple from each session for your enjoyment!  This makes for a long blog post, but I didn't feel like these sessions should be broken out into multiple blog posts.

One of my favorite sessions happened to be my last Senior Session that actually took place in December.  We walked around downtown Frankfort, Kentucky, for about 2 hours and captured shots at many of the various locations in the downtown area.  Some of my favorites are shown below:

One of my first sessions turned out to be double the fun with two best friends who decided to have their pictures taken at the same time.  We spent around 2 hours in a few locations in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.  First, we ventured out to a location near Four Roses Distillery that is right by the water and has some colorful scenery thanks to the beautiful leaves and the rusting of the old building found there.  Some of my favorites were taken at a place called Rice Crossing.  I had never tried to take pictures in this area before, but I was extremely excited about the backdrop this location provided.  Another spot that was new to me happened to be the high school football field.  I wasn't sure with the afternoon sun high in the sky if shooting there would work, but to my amazement, the pictures turned out really great!

The next four portraits were taken at the location near Four Roses Distillery.  One of my favorite places to take Seniors every year.

The images below were the ones shot at Rice Crossing.  Such a beautiful location out in the county.

My favorite Senior Sessions are those that are unique to the student and the family.  When asked to photograph by the waterfall at the damn on Elkhorn I was up for the challenge.  Up until the evening we planned to take the photos, I had never been in a canoe.  The mom put on some waders and walked the canoe across the water to the other side.  At first, my head wanted to spin thanks to the current being a little rough from recent rains.  But I made it across, and the pictures I captured were stunning.  Before the waterfall we took some at another favorite location of mine, Cove Springs in Frankfort, Kentucky, but I'll start off with pictures taken by the waterfall.

The eyes have it!  One of the things I love to focus on are bright, beautiful eyes, and this Senior has such beautiful eyes that I couldn't stop taking close up shots.  We spent an evening walking around downtown Frankfort, Kentucky, and then ended our shoot at Liberty Hall.  Without a doubt, Frankfort, Kentucky, is my favorite locations for shooting photos of any kind.

There isn't anything like getting trapped in the middle of a parade.  Unknowingly, I scheduled a photo shoot on the same day as the Frankfort Parade that takes place downtown.  When we arrived, I thought I was safe parking in the Commonwealth Credit Union Parking lot, but I was in for a surprise.  The lot next to the Credit Union was where everyone started out and ended up.  To make matters worse, the Senior was the star kicker for the Anderson County Bearcats Football team, and he needed to be back in Lawrenceburg to catch the bus to Bowling Green, Kentucky, for the championship game.  We were trapped in downtown for about 2 - 3 hours with no way out until the parade ended.  Even though we were stuck, the weather was beautiful and we had plenty of time to walk around and take some great shots.  With much luck, the star kicker made it out of downtown Frankfort in plenty of time to catch his bus!

Welcome to the first official blog by Portraits By Jenn Duvall!  Blogging is something that I have been wanting to do for a long time now, but I just haven't been able to find the time.  Aside from my photography business, I have a full time job M-F, and that leaves little time for blogging.  However, my goal is to start blogging at least once per week.  So please be patient with me as I journey into the wonderful world of blogging.
