My name is Jennifer "Jenn" Duvall. For as long as I remember, photography has been a passion of mine, but I don’t actually remember the exact moment in time when I became interested in photography. For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed taking pictures. I think when digital cameras first started coming out, and when I could start experimenting more with photography, is when my passion grew stronger. Finally, after many years of hiding behind the lens, I decided to take a leap of faith and open Portraits By Jenn Duvall. The most important thing you need to know about me - I LOVE my family. I am a family oriented person. With my business, I want all my clients to feel like family. One thing I guarantee, when you leave a session, you will feel like part of the family!
The bad thing about being the photographer in the family is that I am not in very many photos. I try to make an effort to jump in front of the camera every now and then but it is hard. I like being behind the lens. Being in that position allows you to see the world around you differently. When I look through my camera at the world, it changes the way I look at everything. Clients that hire me will say “I hate to have my photo taken” or “I look fat can you fix that?” It is always something they hate about themselves. I look thru the lens and see their beauty. I am able to find their personalities and bring it out in my photographs. If you have beautiful eyes, I focus on your eyes. I have had friends comment on how they hate photographs of themselves but when I do sessions for them they see themselves the way I see them. Being behind the lens is an amazing place to be sometimes.
Being a photographer also opens up a whole new world for me as far as donating my time. There is no way I can possibly afford to give to every charity out there, but I am able to offer my services and make donations to help raise money. That is very important to me, to give back to the community.
I am not like many other photographers you may happen across in your hometown or find thru a website search. Currently, I do not own my own studio. Instead, I gather all my gear, pack it in my car, and drive to you. Sessions will take place somewhere on location. After much thought and consideration, I decided that setting up inside the clients home (or location of choice) makes the photographs more personal and the memories more real. As a professional photographer, I have professional lighting and backdrops if you prefer the studio look, but the possibilities of what I can do for you are endless. As well, sessions are not always limited to a set amount of pictures taken. I take as many as I feel are necessary to capture the perfect shot. I may take anywhere from 50 to more than 1,000 shots depending on the types of sessions you schedule with me. My goal is to provide you with images that will freeze the moment in time.
